9 Wellness Headache Relief Center Hingham MA

– Hi, I’m Dr. Adam Wadel from North River Family Chiropractic, and we’re talking about headaches. Today, I wanna give you three
things that you can do at home to help decrease the chance
of getting headaches. So, the first thing I’m gonna suggest, is get enough sleep, right. It’s recommended that we
get eight hours of sleep. Studies show that people
who sleep six hours or less, actually have a higher chance to develop not only acute headaches, but also chronic headaches. So I’m gonna give you a tip. Go to bed at nine. We call it electronic sunset. So at nine o’clock, shut the phone off, turn off the computer, turn the
lights off, go right to bed. The second thing that you can do at home, is make you’re getting exercise. And it doesn’t have to be super intense. Just walking at the very least. Studies show that 40 minutes of exercise, three times a week, reduced
the chance of getting headaches versus just using
relaxation techniques alone. And the third thing that you can do to decrease your chance
of getting headaches, is limit the amount of
alcohol your drinking. And I’m not just talking
about drinking in excess and having a headache the next day. But even if we’re just drinking
two or three drinks a night, we have to understand that
alcohol is a vasodilator. Which means it expands the blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow through them. This is a similar effect as
a blood pressure medication. And one of the most common side effects of people who are on blood
pressure medication regularly, are headaches. So these are three things
that you can do at home to help alleviate those
