A Quick tip for preventing tension headaches

– Hi there, I’m Doctor Dave Kauffman with Kauffman Chiropractic in Loveland, and today I’m just gonna
give you one quick tip to try to reduce some of
those pesky tension headaches that you might get at the end of the day. (music) We are seeing more and more people come into our practice everyday for treatment of tension headaches,
and one of the reasons it’s a growing issue is
the use of technology. Specifically, smartphones are the worst. So, a lot of people throughout their day, they’re looking down at their phone. That’s causing more stress
and tension in the neck, which ends up putting more pressure on the muscles in the back of the head, and that can tip off a
full-blown tension headache. So what we want to avoid is
that looking down posture. So most people, when they use their phone throughout the day, they’re looking down at their phone, they’re
holding it down by their sides. Like this. But what we want is, we
wanna bring that phone, that tablet, up to eye level. That’s gonna prevent a lot of the tension that happens in the base of the head and the tension that
can build in the neck, that can build up into a
full-blown tension headache that can give you a
headache all the way up to the front of your head. So, if you know you’re gonna
be on your phone for a while, the best position to be
in is laying on your back. You can lay on the floor, lay
on your bed, lay on a couch, and then use your phone
up at eye level, again, without putting any stress
or strain on your neck while you’re using your
phone in this position. Thanks again for watching, and if you want further help with tension headaches, I have a great guide that is four steps to reducing tension headaches, and you can get it by clicking
the link right down below. (music) If you noticed, my prop
today was a Go Fish polar bear game, not a actual cellphone, ’cause I’m using my cellphone
to record this video.
