chronic tension headaches are usually
characterized as pain in the front sides and back of the head and usually respond
too well to aspirin however aspirin will never prevent future episodes so let’s
take a look at treating these headaches if their origin their source to prevent
them from reoccurring this chart shows the left and right atlas occiput joint
from the posterior view this shows the left atlas occiput joint from the
lateral view and you can see how the entire head the skull sits rather
precarious that you’ve done in this little crater of a joint the head is
held onto the neck with muscles tendons and ligaments if the head and neck were
to sustain a hyperflexion hyperextension injury as in a car accident a
slip-and-fall or sports injury then these atlas occiput joints can be lifted
up and out of their normal position becoming disjointed this in turn causes
the muscles the ligaments and tendons to become overly stretched spasmed and
swollen in turn restricting the blood flow from the back of the head to the
scalp creating a tension headache a one-time specific gentle adjustments to
the Atlas occiput joints well usually resolve a tension headache
within minutes and then a series of chiropractic adjustments over a period
of weeks will resolve most tension headaches If you have any questions
