Japanese Beetles: A Homeowner’s Headache

Hi Dr. Brad DeBels with Weed Man Lawn
Care. I wanted to talk today a little bit about Japanese Beetles. You can see here
on this tree we have some active Japanese Beetles that are defoliating
this ornamental tree. Japanese Beetles feed on a lot of different ornamental
trees and shrubs, you’ll see the defoliation of a tree
like this that can happen very very quickly –
Oftentimes over night on some of these plants. Over time these Japanese beetles
will mate and lay eggs in the soil, which will turn into white grubs that can eat
the roots and damage your lawn. So it’s really important that you control these
adults now so they don’t lay those eggs, and Weed Man can do that for you with
some insect sprays – really important that we control these beetles now at the
adult stage so they don’t cause a lot of severe problems on the lawn.
