Migraine: Why you need to see the doctor

Articles Blog

Hi I’m Krishan. I’m a doctor here at
Pfizer, supporting Get Healthy Stay Healthy If you’re new here welcome! This
is the first of a series of videos designed to help you manage your health
better and give you tips on having better conversations with your doctor many people experiencing a migraine
don’t want to see their doctor, maybe because when it happens it’s so
disabling you can’t even leave the house or perhaps you feel like it’s just
something you can cope with on your own but the earlier you seek medical
attention the better. Migraine can be treated and even prevented in some cases
or its impact reduced if you know what the triggers and early warning signs are
for you. There are two reasons to see your doctor. Specific treatments for
migraine and other types of headache can be different, so you need to work with
your doctor to get the appropriate management. Also a treatment that works
for one person may not be as effective in another. Your care needs to be
individualised. The other reason is that sometimes migraines can be a signal that
there is an underlying medical condition, So you’ll want to get it checked out. To
help the doctor understand what’s going On, they’re going to ask you some questions these revolve around the symptoms you’re
experiencing, your history and the treatments you have used now I know that’s a lot to cover so I
prepared a migraine diary which you can print and fill out at home. I’ll link to
it in the description below. If you think you’re experiencing migraines or have
headaches they keep coming back then I recommend that you make an appointment
with your GP as soon as you can make sure you also check out GetHealthyStayHealthy.com.au for more information including that link to the ID-migraine screening tool and our migraine diary so that you can show your GP. I
hope you like this video if you want to see more videos like this make sure you
